Children constantly work on composting the organic waste generated in the school. And their visit to garden nurtures the plants and the children too.
As part of Green School Programme, learners at JPS are provided varied opportunities where they can work towards
decreasing the carbon footprint. One such innovative measure taken was installation of food composter Pots in the school
premise. The food/Paper /Sharpener waste will be daily dumped in to the food composter along with the layer of microbes.
This will result in to formation of manure which will be used in school garden. Our small steps will definitely make big
change towards conserving environment.
Moving towards waste management, our children are constantly encouraged to compost the pencil shavings that they
generate in their classroom. This is the major waste generated in a school. Composting it and making it manure is indeed a
long leap towards zero waste management.
As part of green school Programme land team of JPS interacts with school Gardener and finds out about the trees/ herbs
and shrubs that has to be planted in the school premise to make it green and attract Biodiversity. After which they go a
step further and collaborates with NGO and parents and carries out plantation in school premise.
